On January 13, 2026, our team had the opportunity to participate in a virtual meeting with Zach Runyan from AbleGamers, along with Owen Kent and William Emfinger from ATDev. AbleGamers is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating devices that help people with disabilities play video games, while ATDev focuses on developing innovative assistive technology to improve the quality of life.
Early in our assistive technology journey, AbleGamers was one of the first organizations we turned to for guidance on how we could make a meaningful impact. Our initial meeting took place on June 11, 2025, and during our most recent meeting, we shared updates on our progress in the assistive technology space. This included demonstrations of our adapted toys, ride-on cars, and a discussion of our future plans.

Following our presentation, Owen Kent and William Emfinger provided an insightful overview of ATDev and its mission. We learned not only about the wide range of innovative technologies they develop, but also about the profound impact their work has on people’s lives. Seeing assistive technology developed and implemented at a large scale within a real-world company deeply resonated with our team and reinforced our passion for this field. We were also excited to hear that they would be willing to mentor us as we move forward.
We then spoke further with Zach Runyan about our next assistive technology endeavors. While our team has created many adapted toys, we are eager to broaden our scope by exploring assistive technology in the video game space. Zach generously supported this goal by donating three Xbox Adaptive Controllers and three Logitech gaming switch systems for us to test and learn from.
Overall, this meeting was an incredible experience for our team. We gained valuable insight, inspiration, and meaningful connections with Zach Runyan from AbleGamers, as well as Owen Kent and William Emfinger from ATDev. We are grateful for their support and look forward to building on these relationships in the future.
